SSSDay

Annual meeting 06 -07.11 - Naturmuseum Winterthur

How to get there?

The SSS-Day and the workshop will be hosted by the Naturmuseum Winterthur, at Museumstrasse 52, 8400 Winterthur. From the station, it is an ~7 minutes walk down Museumsstrasse.

Workshop Thursday, 06.11.25 : How to describe a new species?

-- start of the workshop : 10:40 in the morning --

During this one-day workshop, we will delve into the process of describing a new species – from its discovery over the preparation of a proper description to the mysteries of the nomenclatural code. There will also be room for discussing current hot topics in alpha-taxonomy and for exchanging experiences from a wide range of taxonomic groups. We will be supported by Juan-Carlos Zamora, a member of the General Committee of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants.

No matter if you are a student just starting to discover her first new species, or an experienced alpha-taxonomist, or even just someone who would like to hear more about this most fundamental form of biodiversity research – you are very welcome to join! You will receive more information about the workshop after registration.
